Do Infantado |
|
| Infantado dates
from 1816 when, as its name suggests, it was owned by the Infante
Dom Pedro, an heir to the throne of Portugal. It is a tiny, first
rate winery, with limited production of top-quality Porto. In 1979,
Infantado created the first Estate Bottled Portos ever shipped from
Portugal! Because Infantado Porto is generally less sweet and less
tannic than the products from the large Port shippers, one can easily
appreciate its subtle flavors on the palate: the spice components
run to anise, orange marmalade, and nutmeg or cinnamon, complementing
the flavors one expects to find in Porto, such as chocolate, plum,
and black cherry. |
