Ripanera
is a small 40-acre Tuscan estate located in San Casiano, Val di Pesa
in the Northwest corner of the Chianti Classico region. The mature
rolling hillside vineyard with its rocky soils and temperate climate
consistently produces outstanding fruit for the Chianti Classico.
The wines are made under the direction of renowned enologist, Dr.
Giacomo Tachis. Dr. Tachis pioneered the Super Tuscan category during
his 30 years as enologist for Antinori. Dr. Tachis developed the Tiganello
and Solaia programs for Antinori and continues to consult on some
of Italy’s best wines including Ripanera.
The 2002 Chianti Classico
is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo, Trebbiano,
and Malvasia. Despite the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon this wine
continues to be a very traditional styled Classico, with focus on
fruit and a balanced, harmonious flavor profile. The wine is estate
grown and estate bottled in a strictly limited production. It is a
beautiful, elegant red wine with a harmonious structure. It displays
pretty aromas and flavors of crushed violets, berries, black cherries,
cedar and spice. Medium bodied with velvety tannins, a plush texture
and balanced acidity. Touches of mineral, herbs and earth add to the
complexity of this wine and echo on the delicious finish. This wine
is drinkable now but will continue to improve with further cellaring. |
