Appelation: Region: Pfalz Country: Germany Varietals: Pinot Noir 100 % Vineyard: Bordered by Rheinhesen on the north and France on the south and west, the Pfalz's vineyards sweep across this remarkably pretty, peaceful land for nearly 50 uninterrupted miles. It is Germany's second largest wine region in acreage. The word Pfalz is a derivation of the Latin word palatium, meaning palace. With over 7% of Germany's vineyard area devoted to Pinot Noir, the Pfalz is among Baden the main region of production of this variety. Analysis: Alcohol: ca. 12 % vol. Residual Sugar: ca. 5.1 g/l Acidity: ca. 4.9 g/l Vinification: Fermented in stainless steel. 75 % of final blend stored in stainless steel, 25% stored in new medium-toasted French barriques for 6 months. Fining shortly before bottling. Tasting Notes: Fairly light bodied with soft tannins it has very pleasant blackberry aromas, a velvety texture and a fruity, rather soft finish.
