VINTAGE CONDITIONS A classic vintage year for Mudgee. Excellent ripening conditions and an abundance of good fruit. So good we even brought extra barrels to age it in! WINEMAKING Always vinified with reserve status in mind. Small batch ferments, new oak barrels, and a long slow 18-month maturation period. In fact many of the barrels from this lot turn up in our flagship wines. COLOUR Typical lively, Mudgee red. Deep, black cherry colour with a hint of maturity on the rim. AROMA Classic Cabernet descriptors of Blackcurrant and mint. Complexed by layers of subtle smoky French oak. PALATE This wine exceeds expectations, with lots of fresh forest fruits and plumy characters. The distinctive richness provides a full mouth feel that is in harmony with soft silky varietal tannin structure and is superbly complemented by subtle oak. HARVEST DATE April/May 2005 ANALYSIS 13.5% Alcohol 3.67 pH 6.1 TA |
