VINTAGE CONDITIONS
2006 was a vintage year characterized by cool nights and very little
rain. Consequently all the flavor was packed into tiny berries,
resulting super intense luscious fruit characters in the finished
wine
WINEMAKING
Verdelho is an early and rapid ripening variety so it is closely
monitored to ensure that harvest occurs when the fruit flavor is
at a peak. The fruit was gently picked in those cool nights and
the juice immediately liberated in our veritable Rolls Royce of
a press. Fermentation was conducted with a mixed culture of yeasts.
An aromatic strain to enhance the floral notes in the wine, and
a strain valued for its contribution to the wines viscosity and
smoothness. After fermentation the wine was stabilized and clarified
and held cool in stainless steel to retain its freshness until bottling.
COLOR
Brilliant, vibrant yellow with green tints.
AROMA
Strong aromatic nose. It shows plenty of tropical fruit characters
with floral overtones reminiscent of honeysuckle, honeycomb and
passionfruit.
PALATE
The palate shows persistent rich and ripe fruit characters. Pineapple,
passionfruit and fruit salad flavours pack the palate giving the
wine a long lingering sensation in the mouth.
